David S. Prince, 76, of Limerick, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Dave was born in Hartford, CT on January 21, 1949, the son of the late Clifford and Shirley (Parsons) Prince. He lived in Limerick for the last eight years of his life, but called many places home, including Trooper, PA; Wichita, KS; State College, PA; Cape Girardeau, MO; Ipswich, MA; Manchester, CT; and Simsbury, CT.
David was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of 50 years, Janet (Cadulli) Prince, by five years. He is survived by his two beloved sons and daughter-in-laws, Joshua & Vanessa Prince of Collegeville, PA and Seth & Jeanie Prince of Minneapolis, MN; his cherished siblings, Linda Portnoy of Enfield, CT, Ellen Platt (Mark) of Sequim, WA, and Robert Prince (Terri) of Norfolk, VA; his five wonderful grandchildren, David, Lexi, Jonathan, Aiden and Joshua; as well as seven dear nieces and nephews.
David spent his early career in retail, where he found his passion for people and joy in serving others, eventually leading him to follow God's calling to become a youth minister. He had an immeasurable and life-changing impact on the youth and families he befriended, and maintained relationships with many of them over the years. He continued this service to others in his later years when he became a hospice chaplain, shepherding families through difficult times with his kind and gentle spirit.
David was first diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2017, but did well after having his kidney removed. He was a selfless caregiver for his wife Jan in her battle with ovarian cancer, and he followed her example in his fight, bravely facing his cancer, without complaint, often more concerned with others than himself.
David's legacy consists of his unwavering faith in God, his deep compassion for others, and his amazing creativity. He was a uniquely talented artist, finding beauty in unexpected places, constantly expressing his gifts through his stained glass creations, his photography, his prolific writing, and in many other surprising and beautiful ways.
David's love of the ocean and the beach was passed on from his parents, and it was his desire to be cremated and his ashes spread at one of his favorite beaches. This will be done at a later date by his family in his memory.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, August 2, 2025, to honor and celebrate David's life, followed by a luncheon. All are welcome to the Royersford Bible Fellowship Church, 431 N. Lewis Rd., Royersford, PA 19468. Dave's family would love to know if you plan on attending (or if you have any questions) by emailing them at [email protected].
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David’s name to Fox Chase Cancer Center through their website under “Giving.”
You will be dearly missed, Dave (Dad, Grandpa, Uncle Dave, Crazy Dave, Brave Dave, Bob Brim, and Dave with the blue hair)
