Florence J. Skipper

Florence Skipper, age 91, of Reading PA, passed away on Sunday, January 10th, 2021 in the Reading Hospital. Born on September 29, 1929 in Reading PA, Florence was the daughter of the late Frank and Helena Williams Hoffecker.

Florence grew up in Reading and graduated from Reading High School. In 1950 she married her late husband and love of her life Russel Skipper. Prior to her retirement she worked in accounts payable at American Color and Chemicals. Florence loved her family. She dedicated much of her life to raising her children and spending time with her extended family. Some of Florence’s passions included sewing, quilting, knitting, gardening, cooking, baking, reading and going to the movies. Florence shared the love for her hobbies with those around her, especially her grandchildren. Florence will be remembered for her beautiful smile and big heart.

She was predeceased by Russel Skipper, and her brothers and sisters Ruth McKnight, Frank Hoffecker, Mildred Bingley, Charles Hoffecker and Robert Hoffecker.

Florence is survived by her children; David Skipper, husband of Constance Skipper of Hamburg and Nancy Hurst, wife of Gerald Hurst of Lititz; four grandchildren Christopher Skipper, husband of Gina Skipper, and Jennifer Elliker, wife of Alexander Elliker, Bryan Hurst, husband of Sarah Hurst, and Lauren Hurst; and three great grandchildren Finn Skipper, Turck Skipper, and Juliette Elliker.

Florence’s family wishes to express deep appreciation for the extraordinary kindness provided by caregivers and staff at Phoebe Berks Health Center in Wernersville, Pa where she resided last.

A private memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date at the convenience of family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Cremation Society of Pennsylvania Inc., at King of Prussia.
