George was born and raised in Pennsylvania. He shared 57 wonderful years of marriage with his beautiful wife, Sandy. Together, they raised three children in the same area where he grew up.
George worked as a machine operator at Philadelphia Gear Corp. until his retirement in 2001. Outside of work, his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Throughout his life, he enjoyed boating, fishing, gardening, baking, working on cars, and fixing things around the house. There wasn't much George didn't know how to do. He truly was a "George of all trades."
Known for his generosity and humor, George was always the first to lend a hand, offer advice, bake a banana cake or oatmeal raisin cookies, or brighten someone's day with a joke. He could have been a comedian, but in his eyes, he already was. His trademark greeting, a big smile accompanied by "Hey stranger!" no matter how much time had passed since he last saw you, made everyone feel welcome and important.
George also loved sharing stories about his life and adventures, especially memories of time spent in Cape May and Wildwood, New Jersey. His kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to family will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy (Koniewicz) Pierce; his three children, Robert (wife Alison), Susan (husband Tom), and Jennifer (husband Jim); six grandchildren, Addison, Keira, Marek, Kinley, Leighton, and Emilia; siblings Betsy Myers, Eleanor Yost, and Donald Pierce; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his siblings Barbara Bearde, Robert Pierce, Jack Pierce, David Pierce, and Barry Pierce.
