Born in Pottstown, PA, he was the son of the late Robert “Sam” and Betty (Babb) Smith.
Prior to his retirement in 2017, he was employed by Stroehmann and Maiers Bakeries for 25 years as a Mechanical/Electrical Engineer and self-employed for 10 years as a PLC Engineer/Automation Specialist. With his broad scope of knowledge, he never hesitated to help anyone or jump right in and fix something for you.
Keith was a 1975 graduate of Boyertown Sr. High School, American Institute of Baking Engineering Program and held several technical certifications. He obtained his Private Pilot’s license in 1994.
He had a passion for boating from a very young age and owned several boats over the years. His pride & joy was his motor yacht “My True North” where family and friends spent countless hours enjoying on the Chesapeake Bay and beyond. In 2021 he purchased a Motorhome and traveled, the last trip was a one-month trip to Yellowstone, WY. Over the years he travelled extensively with his wife and family to many islands, countries and around the United States. He especially enjoyed seeing his grandchildren’s faces light up on trips to Disney in both Florida and California.
“Pappy” as he is lovingly known to family, was so proud of all his children and grandchildren’s accomplishments. Their drive to do their very best came from his example in everything he did. He thoroughly enjoyed watching them in their respective sports and participated on the pit crew with sprint car and motorcycle racing whenever possible. This incredible man will be greatly missed.
