Barbara A. Porter, 79, of Harrisburg, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2026, at River Bend Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born September 17, 1947, in Baltimore, MD, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Cree) Shank.
Barbara was a loving wife and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She liked knitting, crocheting, watching game shows, and loved animals and the outdoors.
Surviving is her husband of 31 years, Donald S. Porter, to whom she had been engaged for 10 years before they married; 4 sons, Kenneth Horanic (Danielle), Robert Porter, Donald Porter, and William Porter; 3 daughters, Mary Smith (Bill), Catherine Cover (Chris Smith), and Rebecca Porter; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlene Cribari; and two sisters, Dorothy Shank and Madeline Cree.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, October 30, 2026, 6:00 pm, at the Cremation & Burial Society of PA, 4100 Jonestown, Road, Harrisburg, PA 17109. Visitation will be from 5:30-6pm.
