
Bonita “Bonnie” Louise Matulevich, 69, of Highspire, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at her home with her sister and children by her side.
Born on May 21, 1957, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Paul and Clementine (Oakes) Steinbacher.
Bonnie loved spending time with family and friends. Always the jokester, she brought light and laughter into the lives of many. She had a deep love for people and would strike up conversations with strangers, quickly turning them into friends. She was known for welcoming others as if they were family, often adopting sons and daughters who were not her own. Cooking was one of her greatest passions, and she spent much of her time preparing meals for those she loved. She also enjoyed music of all kinds, sewing, caring for animals, and tending to her plant collection.
Surviving are her son, James O’Brien Matulevich and his wife, Vivian; her daughter, Heather Lee Matulevich; and her son, Kyle Anthony Matulevich and his wife, Kayla. She is also survived by her grandsons, Mason Malakai Piatt-Villasenor and Tyler Saint Patrick Matulevich; her brother, John Steinbacher and his wife, Delores; her sisters, Sharon Earl and her husband, Kenneth, Janet Bagg, and Theresa Ankoff and her husband, Daniel; as well as her many nephews, nieces, and adopted grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Clementine (Oakes) Steinbacher; her sister, Jean Ann Steinbacher; and her niece, Kimberly Earl.
In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held.
