Bonnie Kay Comp, 82, of New Bloomfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family at the home of her daughter. She was reunited with the love of her life, her husband, Eugene “Gene” Elwood Comp, Jr., whom she missed dearly.
Born on December 17, 1943, in Harrisburg, Bonnie was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Howell) Yohe.
Bonnie’s greatest passion was her horses. She loved caring for them on her farm and found joy in tending to her flowers, watching her beloved koi fish, spoiling her horses and her faithful dog, Cash, and singing along to Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. Her home was always a place where everyone felt welcome, and nobody ever left her house hungry. She was a devoted mother and grandmother whose love was unwavering, and the memories she created with those she cherished will be carried forward for generations.
She was a member of the VFW Post #7463 Ladies Auxiliary, the Newport Moose Lodge, and the Red Hat Society.
Bonnie is survived by her daughters, Anita K. Hackman and her husband, Edward Hackman, and Gina Moist and her husband, Ryan Moist; her cherished granddaughter, Drew Prowell and her soon-to-be husband, Grant Adams. Drew was Bonnie’s pride and joy and will forever be her girl; and her beloved dog, Cash, who never left her side.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene “Gene” Elwood Comp, Jr., and her parents, Joseph and Helen (Howell) Yohe.
Bonnie will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Shermans Dale.
A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held at a later time at the discretion of the family.
