
Shenandoah, PA — Charles J. Kutchinsky, Sr. (Charlie, Dad, PopPop Charlie, Uncle Charlie), age 83, passed away on Saturday December 3rd, 2016 at Ridgeview Healthcare Nursing Home in Shenandoah, PA. He is survived by his Brother, Joseph “Smokey” Kutchinsky; wife, Dolores Heddish Kutchinsky and three children: Chas Kutchinsky, Jr. (Susan); David Kutchinsky (Janice) and Kenneth Kutchinsky (Patti). He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Kelly Kutchinsky Gigliotti, Nicole Kutchinsky McFetridge and Lauren Kutchinsky Kurdinsky and three great grandchildren Maya Gigliotti, Ella Gigliotti and Keira McFetridge.
Charlie was a decorated veteran of the Korean War, where he earned several medals for service and valor as a “Buck” Sargent in the U. S. Marine Corp. He was wounded during a munitions delivery and received commendations for his dedication and bravery. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Marines never left him. His mantra, “as long as nobody is trying to harm me, it’s a good day.”
He grew up in Shenandoah, PA one of four sons of Helen and Andrew Kutchinsky. As a child, he enjoyed working on automobiles and motorcycles. Upon returning from Korea, he pursued a career as an Auto Technician for B F Goodrich. In addition he served as a Deputy Conservation Officer with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and was active in a cooperative fish hatchery with the Pumping Station Dam Association where he served as President. He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew Kutchinsky, Helen (Gailushas) Kutchinsky and brothers William Kutchins and Ronnie Kutchinsky.
He took pride in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be missed by all.
A private family Graveside service will be held at Our Lady of Dawn Cemetery in Shenandoah Heights, PA.
