
Harry Woodrow Coffelt, 93, of Gettysburg, PA, died Tuesday June 23, 2026, at the nursing home where he resided. He was the husband of the late Winifred Diest-Coffelt. He was born on September 5, 1932, in Gettysburg, PA. He was the son of the late Emily F. (Fichtner) Coffelt and Rev. Charles M. Coffelt. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Gettysburg High School. He was an electrician’s mate on the USS Wren during the Korean War, where he traveled through San Diego, Hawaii, Midway, Japan, Korea, Singapore and the Mediterranean, crossing the equator and both the Panama and Suez canals. He left the Navy as a Petty Office-Second Class and was awarded several medals. He obtained an Associate’s degree from Montgomery Junior College majoring in Electronics and was a member of the Bliss Electrical Society. He retired from IBM as a service technician after 30+ years. Even in retirement, he was busy working on a tree farm, where he met his beloved second wife, Winnie, and orchard work. He was involved in Habitat for Humanity utilizing skills he learned while running a construction company and building a large home near Fairfield. He loved to hunt and travel. He was an excellent craftsman and loved making things. He loved music, singing in the Gettysburg Civic Chorus, Barbershop quartets, and church choirs. He was very devoted to his and his wife’s church. He was an avid photographer and a voracious reader.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, John F. Coffelt and wife Jean and Charles T. Coffelt and wife Doris and his sister Eloise H. George and her husband Harvey, son Keith Coffelt and his great-grandson, Elliot among other family members. He leaves behind his first wife, R. Marie Coffelt, son Ross Coffelt, daughter Ann Kint and son-in-law, Kelly Kint, his grandchildren William Coffelt, Rebekah Rankin and husband Malcolm, Andrew Scott and partner Shannon Robinson, Zachary Scott and Stacie Lindsay. He also leaves behind several nephews, Ron George and wife Loretta, John George and wife Diana, and John Coffelt and wife Carol and many great- grandchildren among other family and friends.
There will be no viewing per his wishes. He will be cremated, and interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Military cemetery with full honors at the discretion of the family.
