

James Michael Helsley passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
James was born in Olney, Maryland, to Hazel and Robert Helsley. He was one of five children and is survived by his sister, Jewell.
James proudly served in the United States Army for two years and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam war. Throughout his life, he worked in both construction and the culinary field, dedicating himself to his work and his family.
James found joy in the simple things in life. He loved spending time in nature, fishing, feeding ducks and birds, and woodworking. Above all, James cherished his family and the time he spent with them.
James is survived by his five children: Jeanette (Robert), Jason, Justin (Andrea), Nick, and Jami; his nine grandchildren: Trevor, Hannah (Tyler), Jayna, Jackson, Connor, Carter, Bryce, Alyssa, and Wesley; and his great-grandson, Silas. He was also looking forward to welcoming another great-grandchild on the way.
A service honoring James will be held at Baltimore National Cemetery. Please visit the cemetery’s website for additional information regarding the service.
A Celebration of Life will also be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Oakside Park in Biglerville, Pennsylvania. Family and friends are welcome to join together to celebrate James’s life, share memories, and honor the lasting impact he had on those who loved him.
James will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
