
Marie G. (Campbell), 98, of York, passed away Sunday, Sept. 20, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Fink of York. They were married for 66 years.
Born Aug. 22, 1928, in Orangeville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Raymond J. and Gwendoline M. (Henrie) Campbell.
Marie graduated from Orangeville High School and attended business school. She worked for more than 30 years in various secretarial positions and finished her career working at Commonwealth National Bank and later Mellon Bank, in the bank’s offices on Continental Square in York.
She was a prodigious knitter who produced scores of Christmas stockings for family and friends, each one decorated and personalized with their name, usually as a present for a newborn or a new family pet. She also knitted blankets for the Lebanon VA Medical Center, among other organizations. She loved to read and was consuming books on her worn Kindle until her final days. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of York.
She is survived by her sons, David (Karen) of Mount Joy, Lancaster County; and Douglas (Melinda) and Daniel (Shawn) of York; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond Glenn and David Day Campbell.
The family is still finalizing service arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of York, 225 East Market Street, York, PA 17403.
