Michael Joseph McCarron

Born July 10, 1950, in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Francis and Ruth (Sullivan) McCarron. Mike was a graduate of Hershey High School in 1968, and proudly served his country with the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from Penn State University in 1976 with a Bachelor's Degree in Community Relations.

He retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania where he worked as a Computer Systems Analyst. In addition, Mike enjoyed serving his colleagues as an AFSCME union representative. Mike was especially passionate about Penn State football, the game of golf, travel, all things ‘Irish’, a good cup of coffee, water sports, and spending time with his family.

While in the service, Mike survived a near fatal accident that left him in a coma and required extensive rehabilitation to re-learn how to walk and speak. Due to his exceptional, tenacious spirit, Mike rehabilitated himself despite all odds against him. To those who knew him best, Mike is defined by his ability to overcome adversity, his contagious sense of humor, and overall good nature and cheer. All who knew him shared a laugh and a smile in his presence.

Surviving are his daughter, Megan McCarron, son-in-law, Daniel Dutcavich, son, Kevin McCarron, three grandchildren, Drake Dutcavich, Sloane Nanovic, and Willow Dutcavich, his sister, Sister Kathleen McCarron, O.S.F., his brother, Patrick McCarron, sister-in-law, Deanna McCarron and nieces and nephews including Steven McCarron, Natalie McCarron, Christine Finnegan, Patrick Finnegan, Catherine McCarron, and Chris McCarron. In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by his brother, Francis McCarron and sister-in-law, Rose McCarron.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026 from 9:30am to 10:30am, at Parthemore Funeral Home, at 1303 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070, with a Catholic Mass service following at 11am on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, 1200 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070. Interment will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap Cemetery at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Sisters of St. Francis - Assisi House, 600 Red Fern Rd., Aston, PA 19014.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers and medical staff at the Middletown Home as well as the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center for their kindness.
