Naomi Jean “Jeanie” Hohman was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2025. She was the wife of Barry Hohman, they celebrated 51 years of marriage in March of 2025.
Born on May 2, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. VanAulen and Mary Elizabeth (Rintz) VanAulen.
Jeanie attended McCaskey High School where she met many of her lifelong friends. Jeanie had a few jobs outside of the home but mainly focused her time on raising her children and watching her grandchildren.
Jeanie loved to help out wherever she could. She volunteered her time at the Amvets Post 19 food bank, the Marine Corps league, and Toys for Tots. She was always on the go, willing to help friends and family with whatever they may need. You could always find her on an athletic field cheering on her grandson’s. She had a deep rooted love for the Lampeter-Strasburg boys lacrosse team. She was always willing to help them out by baking sweet treats, working in the concession stand, helping out fundraisers or just by being their biggest fan and the “Lacrosse Nana.”
She loved spending time at her beloved beach house with family and friends. Jeanie developed a love for traveling and she traveled all over the United States and Europe with her daughter, Ursula and grandson Bryce.
Jeanie is survived by her husband, Barry of Strasburg, daughter Ursula of Lampeter, grandson Jesse Hohman (Lauren) of Ephrata, grandson Joshua Hohman of Ephrata and grandson, Bryce Thomas of Lampeter. As well as her siblings. Charles VanAulen (Linda) of Delaware, Eva Wiggins of Lancaster, Carol Anderson (Barry) of Delaware, Deborah VanAulen of Florida, five nephews and many loving and supportive friends who will miss her dearly.
She was proceeded in death by her son, Brent Hohman and sister, Mary Elizabeth Skiba (Rintz).
Internment will be at the convenience of the family and a Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Sunday, October 26 from 12-4pm at the American Legion Post 34 in Lancaster, Pa.
The family would like to thank Dr. Tim Beer for helping Jeanie survive pancreatic cancer and reminding her often that she was an inspiration to him
