Ronald J. Wisocky

Ron was born in Palmerton, PA, on March 8, 1942, to John J. and Helen (Pazucha) Wisocky. He graduated from Palmerton High School in 1960, and shortly thereafter enlisted in the Army. He spent three years at Fort Hood, Texas, where he was a top-secret cryptographic specialist during the Cuban Missile Crisis and Vietnam Era.

His professional career was spent in the mineral processing industry, where he was employed by three companies for a total of 37 years. Ron held various positions in the production, sales contracts and customer service departments of these companies. His final assignment prior to retirement in 2000 took him to Derby, England, where he served as vice president and general manager of the Process Divisions-UK Operations of Svedala Ltd.

Ron was the loving husband of Sally (née Samok) for over 61 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted daughter Rebecca Wisocky and husband Lap-Chi Chu of Los Angeles/New York, brother Stephen and wife Kim of Allentown, PA, sister-in-law Donna Wisocky Cronin of Manchester, NJ, brother-in-law Michael Samok and wife Leanne of Palmerton, PA, and much-loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother John of Weatherly, PA, brother Joseph of San Marcos, CA and sister-in-law Joanne Astbury of Roslyn, PA.

Ron was a long-time member of St. Paul’s UCC Church in Dallastown, PA, where he was a Sunday school teacher, superintendent and member of the stewardship committee. He was an avid catch-and-release trout fly fisherman whose other hobbies included photography and travel. He and Sally felt lucky to be able to travel the world together. High school sweethearts, soul mates, forever holding hands.

Per Ron’s request, there will be no memorial service. Please remember him as he lived: with joy and humor and kindness. Ron loved animals. In lieu of flowers, donations to the York County SPCA in Ron’s name (https://ycspca.org/ways-to-give/) are welcome, as are prayers.
