Born February 11, 1929, Glenn was the son of the late Carrie May (West) Hutchinson and Karl Audley Hutchinson. He was the last surviving member of his family. Preceded in death by brothers Donald Carl, and Howard Eugene, Hutchinson, and sister, Naomi Carrie Cairns.
Married to the late Mary Ann Fetkovich for 34 years before her passing; Glenn found love with Irma Hood (Stouffer) and the two were married on July 6, 1989. A loving father to Gregory Allen Hutchinson, Anne Condor (Norman Kosciusko), Thomas Glenn Hutchinson (Heather); Step-Father to Wendy Stouffer Stowell (Michael), Kenneth Stouffer, the late Dale Stouffer; Grandfather to Jessica Condor Beebe (Jacob); and Step-Grandfather to Cheyenne Stouffer, Wyatt Stouffer (Emma); and Jessica Hootman. He attended Church of the Brethren in Waterford.
Serving in the United States Navy from October 1947 to October 1949, Glenn was a Seaman on the USS Maury and awarded a World War II Victory Medal and Good Conduct Award. He dedicated 35 years of service to General Motors Corporation, Dravosburg Plant.
Glenn found joy in many simple pleasures – Ice Cream Sundaes for Sunday dinners, golfing, bowling and expressing his artistic side through charcoal drawing and later, vibrant coloring. While living in Sarasota, FL, he found a new love - singing in the St. James UMC church choir and then in the Calvary UMC choir upon return to PA in 2008. He delighted in puzzles and, in his later years, playing bingo with friends at Ligonier Gardens. Glenns early dedication was evident in his public school perfect attendance awards from 1937 and 1939. Throughout his life he was known as a quiet amiable man with a warm sense of humor who took care of his family and friends and loved life surrounded by both. When it came to what he needed, he demonstrated the demeanor of the Stoic Soldier, one who endures hardship without being overwhelmed by emotions.
Glenn is remembered for his dedication to his family, service to his country and employer, and love of life. His family would like to thank Concordia at Bethlen Personal Care Home (Ligonier Gardens) for their compassionate care these past fourteen months. A very special thanks to Concordia Hospice for their compassionate care that provided Glenn quality months of mobility and independence.
