Teddy William “Bill” Boaz, age 76 passed away peacefully at his home in Pittsburgh, PA on March 16th, 2026. Bill was hardworking, honest, funny, and dedicated to his family. He had one of those engaging personalities that you could say, he never met a stranger. A beloved son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, Bill was born on March 2, 1950, in Corpus Christi, TX where he lived throughout his youth. He then attended the University of Texas and graduated with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering after which he started a successful 30-year career with Dupont that would take him and his family all over the country.
Spending his childhood in the coastal city of Corpus Christi instilled a lifelong love for the water, sailing, and the outdoors; summers as a Boy Scout camp counselor (and earning his Eagle Scout rank) later led to countless camping, boating, skiing, and hunting trips. Bill lived a full life and created countless memories with his family and friends.
Bill was the beloved husband of Cindy Boaz for 54 years. Together, they would become avid sailors on their boat Argo, and for years relocated to a home port of Vermilion from which they would traverse the Great Lakes. If something needed fixing, whether on land or at sea, he was on it, and many happy hours were spent tending to Argo. Eventually, they transitioned to a trawler named Argo II, on which they ventured out even further to spend winters in Marco Island, FL. A lover of Cindy’s cooking, porches in the summer, and working on just about any home project, his many decades-long friendships serve as a testament to his warmth and outgoing personality. Despite his brain cancer diagnosis in 2003, Bill never complained or let that stop him from enjoying the things he loved most.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Ted Boaz of Corpus Christi, TX, and is survived by his mother Alice Boaz (Ard) of Apex, NC; his loving wife Cindy Boaz (Smith) of Pittsburgh, PA; two children Zoanne (Steve) Swirsding of Wexford, PA and Zachary (Rachel) Boaz of Hudson, OH; four grandchildren Abbey & Camille Swirsding of Wexford, PA and Adele & Gwen Boaz of Hudson, OH; only sister Ann (Kip) Zirkel of Hillsborough, NC; niece Allison (Daryl) Zirkel of Hillsborough, NC; nephew Ben (Anna) Zirkel of Hillsborough, NC; and great niece Lucia Zirkel of Hillsborough, NC.
A memorial for close family members will be held at a future date.
Those wishing to remember Bill may donate to The American Cancer Society.
