Barbara A Smith

Born on November 21, 1941, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Leo A and Margaret M. Miller Gades.

Barb graduated from St. Augustine High School in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and remains a devout Catholic at St. Nicholas Parish in Berlinsville, Pennsylvania.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Wayne D. Smith Sr., she leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter Lynette Alberts and spouse, Glenn Alberts, son Wayne D. Smith Jr. and fiancé Terry Bohnert, dearly loved grandchildren, Brynn Mason, Lindsay and spouse Logan Huepenbecker, and Sabrina and spouse Matt Brown. Her beloved great-grandchildren, Cole, Dixie, Kendra, Zoey, and Abby. Barbara’s siblings, the treasured love she shared with her sister, Delores Kline and spouse Jackie, the cherished love with her cousin, Romaine Graham and predeceased by her brother, Raymond Gades, as well as countless other family members.

As a former resident of Northampton County, she was primarily a homemaker, when she wasn’t managing the home, she was chasing local racetracks where her husband competed. She had a lifelong passion for horses and was a fierce competitor in gymkhana events such as barrel racing.

Between horses, racing, and her neighbors, Barb acquired life-long, deep and loving friendships that never wavered.

Her kindness and especially her laughter was contagious. Such a beautiful soul that will be truly missed.
