Born on March 26, 1934, to Edward Yutz and Elizabeth Hoffman, Bob grew up alongside his siblings Lillian Lawler, Edward Yutz, Carolyn McCall, and Pauline Rahn. They have all passed away before him—(no doubt already bracing themselves for the stories, jokes, and songs he’s bringing with him).
Bob proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, repairing damaged planes. He also found time to have a few beers with his other soldiers & maybe a few local ladies in between planes.
Bob then married Barbara Ann Rittberg in 1961. They settled in Garwood NJ, and had 4 children: Bobby, Patty, Cheryl & Sue. In the Yutz household it was a rite of passage to be slapped in the face by his bristle brush full of shaving cream growing up! Pretty sure Mom got it too, once or twice!
Bob lived life out loud. He loved telling jokes, fishing, crabbing, boating, throwing horseshoes, firing up the grill, and hosting pool parties that stretched well into the night. Music was always close by, and he loved to sing along—often at full volume and at all hours. Christmas music in July? Why not? Whether it was a country drive, a gathering of friends, or just an ordinary evening, Bob made sure it became a memory.
He was a lifelong Yankees fan, he loved Beagles, and kids. He was the kind of loyal friend who would do anything for someone in need. He had many friends—because once Bob entered your life, he rarely stayed a small part of it.
Bob spent many years working in the sheet metal industry before retiring to Beach Lake, PA, where he enjoyed 23 acres of peace, with a large pond, and plenty of space to keep doing all the things he loved most. After the passing of his beloved wife Barbara in 2005, and the heartbreaking loss of his son Bobby in 2023, Bob continued forward with the same strength, humor, and heart that defined him.
He is survived by his loving daughters Patty, Cheryl, and Sue; his cherished granddaughters Christine, Kelly, and Sharon; and a large extended family of nieces and nephews , each of whom carry their own fond (and likely funny) memories of him.
Bob lived independently in Brooksville, FL until the impressive age of 89—proof that he was never one to slow down if he could help it. He returned home to East Stroudsburg, PA in 2024 for his final years, where he was around horses, a mini mule, chickens, dogs, cats, and all the love his family could shower him with. And they DID!!
To his family, Bob was more than a Father—he was their light, their laughter, and their reminder that life is meant to be enjoyed. His jokes, his songs, his silly sayings, and that unmistakable sparkle in his eye will be deeply missed—but never, ever forgotten.
We take comfort in knowing he is reunited with Barbara, Bobby, his parents & siblings, and all his beloved pets who surely came running to greet him.
We couldn’t have asked for a better Father, and we are forever grateful for the love, laughter, and memories he gave us. May he rest in eternal peace… with a fishing pole nearby, good music playing, and just enough shaving cream to keep things interesting 😉
